Copenhagen :   The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control said more than 1,000 locally acquired West Nile virus infections have been reported across Europe since the start of this year’s transmission season. The centre said in its latest weekly update on Friday that a total of 1,086 cases had been recorded in 15 countries as of September 3. The number has risen sharply in recent weeks. Beijing : One person was killed, and 11 others went missing after a mudslide caused by heavy rain in eastern China. Chinese authorities said in a statement that one body had been recovered, while two other people were rescued alive.
