Florida :  Hurricane Isaias weakened to Category 1 after making landfall near Destin, Florida, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported. The hurricane was located approximately 105 kilometres west northwest of Panama City, with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometres per hour.  The NHC warned of dangerous storm surges and inland flooding. Isaias is expected to move through Alabama and Tennessee over the weekend.  Power outages affected 380,000 people in Florida and more than 210,000 in Alabama. US Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said emergency declarations had been approved for both states to provide federal resources for the response.

Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order (31) of 2026 on convening the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives. Under the Royal Order, both councils will convene on the afternoon of Sunday, October 11, to commence the fifth session of the sixth legislative term. The Royal Order shall be published in the Official Gazette.

Beijing : China launched a Long March-12 carrier rocket from a commercial spacecraft launch site in the southern island province of Hainan on Saturday, carrying a new group of internet satellites. The rocket successfully placed the 27th group of low Earth orbit internet satellites into their planned orbit.

Manama : The Kingdom of Bahrain’s youth cycling team returned with a gold-medal achievement after successfully competing in the 2026 Arab Cycling Championships, held in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Republic, from October 2 to 13 under the supervision of the Arab Cycling Federation.  The championships featured leading Arab cyclists from Bahrain, host nation Syria, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Lebanese Republic and the State of Libya. Miami : Tropical Storm Simone has strengthened into a hurricane in the Pacific Ocean, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported. The hurricane was located approximately 380 kilometres south of Manzanillo, on Mexico’s western coast, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometres per hour. The NHC said the hurricane was moving west northwest at 9 kilometres per hour and was expected to continue northwest on Friday before turning north on Saturday.

Manama : The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Traffic will intensify field campaigns in the coming period, in coordination with police directorates across all governorates, to detect violations and dangerous practices involving electric bikes and scooters in breach of Decision (58) of 2026. Legal action will be taken against violators. The General Directorate explained that regulations governing the use of electric scooters require them to be used only in designated areas, at a maximum speed of 25 km/h, without carrying an additional passenger or travelling against the flow of traffic. Riyadh :The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport were targeted in two separate attacks on October 6 and 7. Emergency response teams and relevant authorities responded immediately in accordance with approved procedures and emergency plans. In a statement, the Authority said the attack on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two female residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities and injuries to 28 people, including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident and a Filipino resident.
