Riyadh : Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Cabinet Member and Climate Envoy, held a telephone call with Francisco Pérez Mackenna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile. The call discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and opportunities to enhance them in various domains, as well as exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
Jeddah : His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, met with Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of the United States Central Command. The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation in the defence domain and reviewed the latest regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Berlin : Authorities in the Federal Republic of Germany ordered residents of the village of Gai to evacuate after a wildfire spread towards the area in the west of the country, putting about 1,800 residents at risk. The emergency warning app NINA issued its highest warning level, “severe danger”, as the fire approached the residential area. The municipality said the situation represented a major emergency, with about 25 hectares of forest burned and the flames spreading to within about 500 metres of the village.
Cairo : The League of Arab States condemned Iran’s targeting of two tankers belonging to the United Arab Emirates while they were crossing the Strait of Hormuz yesterday evening, in a blatant and unacceptable violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. Tokyo : Heavy rain on Thursday and Friday killed eight people in eastern Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency had issued the highest warning for heavy rain (Level 5) in more than one-third of the municipalities in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo. The cities of Chiba and Ichikawa, along with other towns, began urging citizens to take immediate safety measures, as widespread flooding occurred on public roads. The Japan Meteorological Agency also issued a Level 5 landslide warning for several municipalities in the prefecture, including Chiba and neighbouring Ichihara, before all the warnings were downgraded this morning.

Berlin : Around 12,500 people died due to heat in Germany from April 6 to August 2, 2026, according to the latest report on heat-related deaths issued by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). According to the data, heat is especially dangerous for older residents. At around 6,300, the most deaths were recorded in the age group 85 years or older.
