Amman : Jordan expressed support for the measures undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and the safety of citizens and residents. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs of Jordan expressed rejection and condemnation of the plots uncovered by Bahrain’s security authorities and of any acts that could affect Bahrain’s security and stability. The ministry also reiterated Jordan’s rejection of all forms of violence aimed at undermining security and stability.
Manama : The Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced that security authorities had uncovered a group linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the ideology of Wilayat al-Faqih, based on investigations and security reports, and in connection with previous Public Prosecution investigations into cases involving espionage for foreign entities and support for the Iranian attacks. Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defence announced that air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles and three drones launched from Iran on May 8, resulting in three moderate injuries. The ministry said that since the start of the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE, air defence systems have intercepted 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 drones. It added that the total number of injuries has reached 230 cases involving multiple nationalities. Jakarta : Indonesian authorities launched rescue operations after the eruption of Mount Dukono on Halmahera Island, which left 20 hikers missing and sent a volcanic ash plume about 10 kilometres into the sky. The head of the local search and rescue agency said rescue teams, supported by police personnel, were deployed to search for the missing hikers, adding that no injuries had been confirmed so far. He said nine of the missing are Singaporean nationals, while the others are Indonesian. Cairo : The World Bank approved a $1 billion financing package to support Egypt’s efforts to promote private sector-led job creation and strengthen economic reforms. The package includes a $200 million credit guarantee to support Egypt’s economic reform programme.
