Manama : The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf has launched GCC Endowments Week, held this year under the theme of endowments and national development, as part of a Gulf initiative to highlight the role of endowments in supporting national development and strengthening their contributions to charitable, social and development activities.
The Ministry affirmed that GCC Endowments Week follows the outcomes of meetings of the committees responsible for Islamic affairs and endowments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, reflecting a shared commitment to raising awareness of the importance of endowments and their role in serving society and contributing to sustainable development.
It commended the efforts of Islamic affairs and endowments authorities across GCC countries in supporting the initiative and helping achieve its objectives. It also emphasised the importance of continued coordination and the exchange of expertise and experience to strengthen joint Gulf action and develop the endowments sector.
The Ministry also praised the role of the GCC General Secretariat in organising the initiative, coordinating efforts among member states and following up on its implementation, thereby strengthening Gulf integration and cooperation in the field of endowments.
The Ministry’s activities as part of GCC Endowments Week include addressing endowments in Friday sermons and lessons delivered at mosques, alongside a series of awareness programmes highlighting the importance of endowments, their objectives under Islamic law, and their role in supporting charitable causes, promoting the values of solidarity and social cohesion, serving society and advancing national development.
