Manama : Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, and Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Care of People of Determination, inaugurated the Employment Fair for People of Determination, organised by the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with the private sector.
The two-day fair features the participation of a number of private-sector institutions and companies. It forms part of national efforts to enhance employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, expand their participation in the labour market and consolidate the principle of equal opportunities.
During a tour of the fair, the two ministers reviewed the employment opportunities offered by participating institutions and companies, the nature of the available positions and their requirements, as well as efforts to provide jobs suited to the abilities, skills and qualifications of jobseekers with disabilities.
Minister Khalaf affirmed the Ministry of Labour’s commitment to enhancing employment opportunities for people of determination in the private sector, in cooperation and coordination with all relevant public- and private-sector entities, particularly the Ministry of Social Development. This includes supporting initiatives aimed at matching job opportunities with their academic qualifications, abilities and skills, thereby consolidating equal opportunities and enhancing their independence and active participation in the labour market.
He noted that specialised employment fairs highlight the importance of partnerships with private-sector establishments in employing citizens and provide jobseekers with disabilities with the opportunity to engage directly with employers and learn about available vacancies. He affirmed that the Ministry of Labour would continue working with its various partners to enhance employment opportunities for people with determination, support their integration into the labour market and strengthen their role across productive sectors, in support of Bahrain’s comprehensive and sustainable development.
Minister Al Alawi affirmed that organising the fair reflects the Ministry of Social Development’s commitment to continuing its efforts to empower persons with disabilities and enhance their active participation in all areas of life, particularly the economic sphere. The fair enables them to demonstrate their abilities, apply their skills and pursue their professional ambitions in a supportive environment based on equal opportunities and recognition of individual capabilities.
He added that the fair represents an important step towards broadening economic participation for persons with disabilities and strengthening their presence in the labour market. Investing in their abilities and potential, he said, is an investment in human capital that helps strengthen their role as active partners in comprehensive development and contributes to a more inclusive society with equal opportunities.
The fair provides jobseekers with disabilities with an opportunity to meet directly with representatives of private-sector institutions and companies, explore available vacancies and their requirements, and learn about application procedures. This supports employment and economic empowerment efforts and strengthens their participation and contributions to economic and social development.
The fair is being organised as part of efforts to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two ministries and the private sector, and to integrate initiatives aimed at expanding employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and creating a supportive work environment that accommodates their abilities and qualifications. These efforts contribute to strengthening their economic and social participation and consolidating equal opportunities in the labour market.
