Bahrain : Procurement requests by government entities valued at approximately BD2.7 million were discussed at the 50th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting.
The virtual meeting was chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.
Al Qaed welcomed new Committee member, Economic Development Board (EDB) representative Linda Janahi and praised the efforts of the previous EDB representative Maha Mufeez.
The meeting covered several strategic projects and procurement requests, most notably the development of a mapping system for the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), an important part of the National 3D Mapping of Bahrain program which will convert 2D graphics and paper drawings into advanced three-dimensional models via specialized scanners and software.
The committee also discussed developing apps and services for the Ministry of Education, which will improve overall education and support digital empowerment.
It reviewed an upgrade of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ (MoFA) network infrastructure, which will enhance its technical security readiness, performance, and efficiency, and link the Ministry’s various buildings, consulates, and embassies abroad.
There was also a discussion on the provision of broadcast services to Bahrain TV’s channels at the Ministry of Information. The Committee achieved savings of 50% of the contract’s basic value.
The meeting also covered the development of specialized systems at MoFA’s Al Madar Center by providing advanced AI programs
In addition, the Committee covered several procurement requests related to upgrading IT services at other government entities and implemented decisions from previous meetings.
