Manama : The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution, regarding Palestine’s right to obtain full membership in the United Nations. The resolution adopted by majority vote of 143 also recommended that the Security Council reconsider the matter favourably. It also grants Palestine additional rights and privileges related to its status in the international organisation. Kuwait : His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, issued an Amiri Order on Friday to dissolve the National Assembly and suspend some articles of the Constitution for a period not exceeding four years. Kabul : An Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson reported that heavy rains in Baghlan province, northern Afghanistan, today, Friday, led to fatal floods claiming the lives of at least 50 people, predominantly women and children. The death toll is expected to increase. Hedayatullah Hamdard, the acting head of the regional authority overseeing natural disasters, stated, “The current death toll stands at fifty, as reported by Baghlan E Markazi province hospital, with the possibility of further casualties.” He attributed the tragedy to seasonal rains causing abrupt flooding.
