Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued Edict (58) of 2026 restructuring the executive councils of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s four governorates, based on the recommendation of the Minister of Interior.
The edict stipulates the following:
Article (I)
The executive councils of the four governorates shall be constituted as follows:
First: Capital Governorate
1. Governor of the Capital Governorate, chairman.
2. Deputy Governor of the Capital Governorate, vice chairman.
3. Director General of the Capital Governorate Police Directorate, member.
4. Director General of the Capital Secretariat, member.
5. Representative of the General Coordination of Governorates, Ministry of Interior, member.
6. Director of the Beneficiary Service Directorate, Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, member.
7. Director of the Roads Planning and Design Directorate, Ministry of Works, member.

Article (II)
The term of membership of the executive councils of the four governorates shall be four years and may be renewed.
Article (III)
The Minister of Interior and the relevant ministers, each within their respective remit, shall implement the provisions of this edict.
The edict shall take effect from the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
