Manama : Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, announced that construction works on the first phase of the Muharraq City Development Project, comprising six neighbourhoods, have reached 73% completion.
The announcement was made during an inspection visit to review progress on the project. The minister reviewed the latest developments and progress rates across the six neighbourhoods.
The project’s visitor centre has been completed, along with the construction and furnishing of the model housing unit and a number of housing units designed in line with the city’s traditional architectural character.
The minister also reviewed progress on secondary infrastructure networks and internal roads within the development areas, extending over 3.8 kilometres, in addition to a car park with a capacity of more than 300 spaces for residents and visitors.
Discussions were held with consultancy and contracting firms to review progress rates and implementation plans. The minister stressed the importance of adhering to the approved timetable and ensuring integration between construction works and infrastructure services.
She noted that the current progress rates support the objectives of the Muharraq City Development Plan, which aims to preserve the city’s historical and cultural identity and revive its urban fabric.
