Manama : Dr Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals Administration, has been named among 35 distinguished healthcare leaders in the Arab world for 2026 by the Arab Hospitals Federation, as part of its Leaders Select list.
The list recognises leaders whose sustained efforts have made a meaningful impact on healthcare across the Arab world.
Dr Al Jalahma said the recognition reflected the collective efforts of Government Hospitals’ staff and their commitment to developing healthcare services. She highlighted investment in national talent, innovation and institutional collaboration as key pillars for improving the quality of care and patient safety.

She expressed pride in the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to improving performance and delivering healthcare services that meet beneficiaries’ needs and expectations. She also stressed the importance of adopting best practices, enhancing service efficiency and sustainability, and fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork to support the continued development of Bahrain’s healthcare sector.
The selection followed an independent review by a specialised judging panel appointed by the Arab Hospitals Federation. The panel comprises prominent healthcare leaders, governance experts and internationally recognised professionals. The assessment was based on documented evidence and criteria evaluating leadership records, tangible achievements, the scope of responsibilities, impact at institutional and healthcare-sector levels, and the sustainability of results.
