Amman : Wafa Bani Mustafa, Jordanian Minister of Social Development, announced that six residents died, while five others sustained severe injuries and 55 others suffered moderate injuries, due to a fire that broke out on the first floor of a private elderly care centre.
The fire spread across the 80 square metre centre, which housed 111 residents. The remaining residents were evacuated to other centres, and the injured were taken to government hospitals for treatment.
The minister confirmed the safety of all evacuated residents and noted that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
