Manama : The Nasser bin Hamad Season for Falcons and Hunting will start its ninth edition, with the main falconry competitions taking place this week.
The event is considered one of the main events on the calendar of the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth) and comes to revive wild heritage and hunting competitions in Bahrain.
The Bahraini falconers have finished competing in foreign championships and achieved distinguished achievements, the most recent of which was Ahmed Abdulwahab Al Hajri’s win at the Fazza International Championships.
Local competitions’ registrations and classifications will start on Wednesday, the owners’ competitions on Friday and the professional’s competitions on Saturday.
The season will also feature open international rounds for falconers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on January 14, followed by Eyas Rounds on January 15, and finishing January 16 with Qaranis Rounds.
