Manama : The Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) has announced organising the first edition of the National Arabian Horse Judging Course scheduled from April 21 to 23. The course aims to qualify and prepare national judges for Arabian horse beauty competitions. The initiative seeks to cultivate a new generation of qualified personnel by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of judging criteria and practical experience. Tunis : Twenty-three irregular migration attempts were thwarted, 942 undocumented migrants, including two Tunisians and others of sub-Saharan African nationalities, were rescued and two corpses were fished out, the General Directorate of the National Guard said in a press release on Friday. Besides, 17 wanted persons, including organisers and intermediaries, were arrested, and 5 boats, 24 marine engines and a quantity of fuel were seized by the Sfax national guard units, the General Directorate added, underlining that the necessary legal measures were taken.
Sydney : Five people and a suspect were killed in a Sydney shopping center stabbing attack on Saturday that left multiple people, including a small child, injured, police said. A single person began stabbing people in the mall, attacking nine people, before a police inspector shot him, Assistant Police Commissioner Anthony Cooke told reporters. Five victims died, he said. Cooke said the suspect acted alone and there was “no continuing threat.” He said officials didn’t know who the offender was yet, and there was no indication of motivation.

Nairobi : Heavy rains pounding different parts of Kenya have led to the deaths of at least 13 people and displaced some 15,000, the United Nations said, as forecasters warned more rains can be expected until June. The U.N Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, citing the Kenya Red Cross Society, said Thursday that nearly 20,000 people have been affected. That includes the estimated 15,000 displaced by heavy rains and flash floods across the country since the start of the wet season in mid-March. Manama : An official source at the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry’s Meteoritical Directorate has forecast an unsettled weather in Bahrain on Monday evening and Tuesday, April 15-16. The same source indicated that the weather will be cloudy with a chance of scattered rain, that may become thundery at times, adding that the wind will be strong. The directorate said that it would update the public on the weather conditions, calling on everyone to be cautious and follow official bulletins and warnings through its accounts.
