New York : The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that over 420,000 children across three countries in the Amazon region are currently impacted by severe water scarcity and drought conditions. According to UNICEF, the ongoing drought, which has persisted since last year and brought Amazon basin rivers to record lows, is significantly affecting riverside and indigenous children and communities in Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Edict (56) of 2024, regarding the internal regulations of the Traffic Council, based on a proposal by the Minister of Interior. Beyon reported net profit attributable to equity holders of BD17.6M (US$46.7M) for Q3 2024, in line with BD17.6M (US$46.7M) for the corresponding quarter of 2023. Earnings per share (EPS) are 10.6 fils for the third quarter of 2024 compared to 10.7 fils in Q3 2023. Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order (42) of 2024, amending the name of the Nasser Vocational Training Centre. Article I The name “Nasser Centre for Vocational Training” shall be changed to “Nasser Centre for Science and Technology” in Royal Order (37) of 2014 and throughout its text on the establishment and structuring of “Nasser Centre for Vocational Training”. Article II This decree shall take into effect from its issuance and published in the Official Gazette.

Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order (43) of 2024, appointing the Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council. Article I Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, the Deputy National Security Advisor, shall be appointed as Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council in addition to his current duties, replacing Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
