Manama : Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan, attended the conclusion of the third edition of the Firefighter Challenge.
Organised by the General Directorate of Civil Defence, the event marked World Civil Defence Day. Firefighter teams from the General Directorate of Civil Defence, security authorities, industrial companies, and amateurs attended.
The Chief hailed the accomplishments and high levels of the General Directorate of Civil Defence as part of the support and instructions of Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. He affirmed that the support made a turning point in the civil defence system, including the administrative, operational, and arrangements aspects and the technical teams.
He commended the efforts and professionalism of civil defence officers, commissioned officers, and other ranks for their commitment to swift response in dealing with accidents per plans and procedures and community partnership. He highlighted the civil defence’s sacrifices and high performance that led to success stories in protecting lives and property.
Al Hassan also attended the finale of the championship competitions between civil defence, National Guard, Air Force, Alba, Bapco and GPIS teams, in which the civil defence team won. He also attended competitions among 63 amateurs.
The Chief thanked all participating teams and congratulated the winners, hailing the third edition of the championship, which showcased high skills and preparedness. He thanked the General Directorate of Civil Defence for the good organisation and the sponsors for promoting community partnership and general safety.
