Manama : Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, said tolerance is a principle upheld under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and an established value in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national foundations.
Marking the International Day for Tolerance, he said Bahrain has long been a model of coexistence, respect for diversity, and commitment to humanitarian values. He commended the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for advancing these values in line with the National Action Charter, the Constitution, the National Human Rights Plan (2022–2026), and international frameworks.
Al Musallam highlighted Bahrain’s initiatives to promote coexistence and dialogue, including the “Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration,” the work of the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, and the King Hamad Prize for Coexistence and Tolerance. He also underscored His Majesty the King’s call for an international convention to criminalise religious, sectarian, and racial hate speech.
He said Bahrain continues to promote a culture of tolerance, support peaceful coexistence, and encourage understanding between communities, supported by a legislative framework and societal values that reinforce respect for human rights and religious freedoms.
Al Musallam said parliamentary diplomacy remains committed to highlighting Bahrain’s efforts in promoting tolerance at international parliamentary forums.
