Harbin : With three weeks to go until the 9th Asian Winter Games in northeast China’s Harbin, organisers are emphasising green and eco-friendly principles.
Wang Hesheng, vice chairman and secretary-general of the Harbin 2025 organising committee, announced that all ice events will utilise existing venues, which have been renovated with upgrades to refrigeration, dehumidification, lighting, heating, and networking systems. Following the Games, these venues will open to the public with higher standards, better environments, and more complete function.
For the first time in history, the Games will run entirely on green energy sourced from wind and solar power. The organising committee introduced new energy transportation vehicles. Underscoring that the green and low-carbon approach is a fundamental principle of the games and positively influences daily life in the future.
