Istanbul : Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, held bilateral parliamentary meetings with heads and representatives of parliaments from Niger, Bangladesh, Eswatini, Gabon, and Singapore, as well as the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul, with the participation of members of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation.
Al Musallam briefed parliamentary counterparts on the details and repercussions of the Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, highlighting United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, supported by 136 countries, and United Nations Human Rights Council Resolution 38, adopted unanimously, which reflect broad international condemnation of the attacks.
Al Musallam underscored the importance of parliamentary support and coordination in addressing current challenges, calling for unified positions to condemn attacks targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure.
Al Musallam emphasised the need for parliaments worldwide to adopt a firm stance in rejecting such attacks, describing them as violations of international law and a threat to international peace and security.
Al Musallam reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continued approach to supporting peace, security, and joint international action, particularly within parliamentary forums.
Parliamentary representatives commended Bahrain’s efforts in supporting initiatives that promote peace, coexistence, and regional stability, emphasising the importance of continued coordination to address regional and global challenges.
