Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) declared the issuance of judicial convictions against 20 defendants in cases related to the issuance of work permits for expatriate workers without need for them and trading in work permits. The total fines amounted to BHD 441,000, while the investigation is still ongoing across a range of other cases based on the Authority’scommitment to implement the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to address illegal practices that would affect the competitiveness, fairness, and flexibility of the Bahrain labour market. Las Tejerías: A day after burying his mother, Rafael Negrín on Wednesday carried the coffin of his aunt who also died in floods and landslides in central Venezuela that killed at least 43 people and left dozens missing. Guatemala City : Former Hurricane Julia has dissipated, but it is still drenching Guatemala and El Salvador with torrential rains Monday after it reemerged in the Pacific following a pounding of Nicaragua. At least 28 people were reported dead as a direct or indirect result of the storm, Guatemala’s disaster prevention agency said five people died after a hillside collapsed on their house in Alta Verapaz province, burying them. Bahrain : The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), in cooperation with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science of the Ministry of Interior, identified an unlicensed establishment that acted as an employment (manpower) office. The establishment has been facilitating the entry of expats into Bahrain, while promising false high paying jobs, in turn rendering them vulnerable to exploitation. The LMRA revealed that the establishment has posted several false job opportunities on various social media platforms then facilitated expats’ entry into the Kingdom in return for money.
