Manama: : Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Shura Council, said the Iranian drone attack targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain in the early hours of today constitutes a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, an attack on the security of citizens and residents, and a clear breach of international conventions, norms and agreements prohibiting attacks on civilian objects and national facilities.
Dr. Al Rumaihi said the Iranian regime’s continued aggression, despite regional and international efforts to promote security and stability, reflects its disregard for international law, humanitarian conventions and the commitments it has undertaken before the international community. He said its policies continue to be based on destabilising security, undermining stability and threatening the security of the peoples of the region.
He stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will remain secure under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, and through the dedication of personnel across the military, security and civilian sectors, whose vigilance and commitment continue to safeguard the Kingdom and its achievements.
Dr. Al Rumaihi said the unity of the people of Bahrain behind the leadership of His Majesty the King and their adherence to national and Arab principles will continue to serve as the Kingdom’s strongest defence against attempts to undermine its security, stability and achievements. He added that national unity has remained, and will continue to remain, the country’s primary source of strength in confronting aggression and terrorism.
He noted that protecting lives and ensuring the safety of citizens and residents remain among the Kingdom’s highest priorities, reflected in the preparedness of state institutions, precautionary measures and integrated plans to respond to various circumstances in line with Bahrain’s national and humanitarian responsibility to protect people.
Dr. Al Rumaihi said the attack constitutes a direct challenge to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) and demonstrates the Iranian regime’s failure to honour its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding to cease military operations and respect the sovereignty of the countries of the region. He called for a firm international position to hold those responsible accountable and ensure the implementation of international resolutions.
He emphasised that Bahrain, under its leadership and with the support of its people, will continue to defend its sovereignty, security and stability, while remaining committed to supporting peace based on respect for the sovereignty of states, good neighbourliness and adherence to international law. He also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in deterring aggression and holding those responsible accountable in order to preserve regional security and stability.
