Tianjin : Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasised that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) security forum now bears “greater responsibility” for safeguarding regional peace and stability, as well as promoting the development and prosperity of its member states. Warsaw : A Polish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during a rehearsal for an airshow in Radom, central Poland, and the pilot died, the army said on Thursday. “A Polish Army pilot died in the crash of an F-16 aircraft -an officer who always served his country with dedication and great courage. I pay tribute to his memory,” Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X after arriving at the crash scene. Nouakchott : Mauritania’s Coast Guard announced that 49 irregular migrants had died and about 100 others were missing after a boat carrying around 160 people sank off the coast of Nouakchott. Only 17 people were rescued, while the bodies of the victims were washed ashore, in what authorities described as one of the worst incidents in the region in recent years.

Amman : Jordan’s national exports to countries within the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) recorded a 16.9% increase during the first half of 2025, reaching JD 1.851 billion, compared with JD 1.583 billion during the same period last year. This performance solidifies the region as Jordan’s leading trade partner. According to data from the Department of Statistics, exports to GAFTA countries accounted for 42.3% of Jordan’s total exports during the first six months of the year. Washington, The United States has implemented a decision by President Donald Trump to double tariffs on imports from India, raising duties to as much as 50%, effective Wednesday.
