New Delhi : Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New Delhi, Republic of India, where he headed the UAE delegation.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Minister Al Marar affirmed the UAE’s categorical rejection of all Iranian allegations and Iran’s attempts to justify the terrorist attacks targeting the UAE and Arab and international countries in the region. He stressed that these acts constitute a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the principles of good neighbourliness, and that the UAE reserves its full sovereign, legal, diplomatic, and military rights in confronting any threat affecting its national security or independent decision-making.
He noted that the UAE has been subjected since the beginning of this year to repeated Iranian terrorist attacks, with the UAE’s air defences intercepting around 3,000 attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones targeting civilian and vital facilities as well as residential areas. He affirmed that Iran has continued these attacks in complete disregard of the international consensus and the resolutions issued by the UN Security Council, the Human Rights Council, and specialised international organisations, which unanimously condemned these violations and their threat to international peace and security.
He also explained that the Iranian practices included obstructing international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which constitutes a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security. He stressed that the international community will not tolerate these deliberate attacks on infrastructure and civilians, and that the UAE is capable of deterring any aggression and protecting its territory and citizens in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, holding Iran fully responsible for the consequences of these terrorist acts.
