Santiago : The government of the Republic of Chile announced a widespread power outage that affected large parts of the country, from the mining-rich northern regions to central and southern Chile, including the capital Santiago, home to the majority of the population. Escondida, the world’s largest copper mine, was currently without electricity. Mining company Antofagasta confirmed that it was using backup power generators to keep its mines running. Manama :The Ministry of Works announced that the improvement works on Al Fateh Highway and Prince Saud Al Faisal Avenue necessitates the closure of one lane and two lanes in several locations in stages in both directions. Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ratified and issued Law (7) of 2025 on the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China concerning the elimination of double taxation on income taxes and the prevention of tax evasion and avoidance. Kabul : At least 21 people from two families died in floods that swept through Farah province in western Afghanistan, according to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qaniee on Tuesday. Bangkok : At least 18 people were killed and 23 injured in eastern Thailand on Wednesday after the brakes failed on a tour bus and it rolled upside down into a ditch. “It was a downhill road and the brakes failed, and the driver lost control of the vehicle before it overturned,” said Colonel Sophon Phramaneehe, adding that those who died were adults on a study trip. There were 49 people on the bus, all Thai, including the driver, the police official said.
