Geneva : The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), a United Nations agency, has warned that the likelihood of global warming exceeding the 1.5 C threshold between 2025 and 2029 has increased to 70%, in a serious indication of accelerating climate change. Riyadh : The General Directorate of Passports has reported that as of Saturday, May 24, a total of 961,903 pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj season 1446 AH through air, land, and seaports.  According to the directorate, 912,598 pilgrims entered via airports, 45,028 through land crossings, and 4,277 by sea, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Muscat : Oman’s non-oil exports increased by 8.6% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching OMR 1.618 billion, compared to OMR 1.490 billion in the same period last year. The growth is attributed to efforts to develop domestic industries, attract foreign investment, localise projects, and support the private sector. Non-oil exports accounted for 28.6% of Oman’s total exports, which stood at OMR 5.659 billion. The exported goods included a range of industrial products, metals, plastics, machinery, electrical equipment, and chemical products.

Bangkok : Three people were killed when a police helicopter crashed in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Thailand. One person survived after parachuting from the aircraft. The Bell 212 helicopter was on a training mission when it went down around 1 p.m. local time near Wing 5 Air Base. Authorities have announced an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Firefighters and rescue teams were deployed to extinguish the blaze. According to Thailand’s Fire and Rescue page on Facebook, the victims were two pilots and a flight technician. The condition of the parachute survivor has not yet been disclosed.
