Manama : The Ministry of Industry and Commerce underscored its commitment to overseeing the implementation of Cabinet decisions related to a package of initiatives aimed at improving the financial situation and ensuring the continuity of support provided to citizens. These initiatives include adjusting natural gas prices for companies and factories, developing the mechanism for setting fuel prices, and other government measures supporting economic development.
The Ministry noted that its Inspection Directorate will intensify monitoring efforts through comprehensive work plans and expanded inspection campaigns and visits across Bahrain’s markets and regions, with particular focus on sectors linked to the basic needs of citizens and residents, to ensure that no violations occur, such as manipulation or unjustified price increases.
The Ministry added that inspection activities will cover all commercial sectors and retail outlets across the Kingdom.
It emphasised that national legislation includes deterrent penalties for violators, including financial fines, closures, administrative deregistration, and referral to the Public Prosecution.
The Ministry called on shop owners and commercial establishments to comply with regulations and laws governing commercial activity and not to exploit government initiatives or adjustments as a pretext to raise prices unjustifiably or commit any violations, to avoid legal accountability.
The Inspection Directorate noted the important role of consumers in supporting monitoring efforts by reporting any violations via the National Suggestion and Complaints System (Tawasul), through WhatsApp at 17111225, or by email at inspection@moic.gov.bh.
