Washington :The United States of America is celebrating the 250th anniversary of its independence with major nationwide festivities across cities and states.
The day marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when the 13 colonies declared their independence from the British Crown, making it a historic day known as Independence Day or the Fourth of July.
Official and public celebrations took place in Washington, and major cities including New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Los Angeles, featuring military parades, concerts and large-scale fireworks displays. The US President delivered a national address marking the occasion, reaffirming the values of freedom and democracy on which the United States was founded.
The White House announced a series of national events throughout the day, with broad participation from citizens and immigrants, alongside cultural and historical activities at symbolic sites such as Independence Hall in Philadelphia. US embassies and American communities around the world are also taking part in commemorating the occasion, one of the country’s most important national holidays. The 250th anniversary comes amid nationwide campaigns to promote national unity and reflect on the country’s history and achievements over the past two and a half centuries.
