Manama : Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Care of People of Determination, attended the closing ceremony of the 2026 Summer Programme for People of Determination, held at the Mubarak Jassim Kanoo Comprehensive Social Centre.
The programme was organised by the Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with the National Committee for the Care of People of Determination and in partnership with relevant civil society organisations.
Minister Al Alawi said the summer programmes implemented by associations supporting people of determination demonstrated effective community partnership. He noted that their various activities and programmes contributed to developing participants’ skills and abilities, making positive use of their time and enhancing their interaction and participation in the community.
The minister said empowering people of determination is a shared national and community responsibility. He added that supporting initiatives and programmes that respond to their needs and aspirations represents an investment in people, promotes equal opportunities and reinforces Bahrain’s approach to providing an inclusive environment that enables everyone to participate and contribute effectively to development.
Minister Al Alawi commended the efforts of the associations, administrative and technical personnel, supervisors, volunteers, supporting entities and partners who contributed to the success of the programmes. He expressed hope to build on the results and experiences achieved and continue developing initiatives and programmes that meet the needs of people of determination, support their capabilities, enhance their independence and reinforce their role as active partners in national development.
The summer programme began in July and included a range of cultural, training, recreational and social activities, including trips, field visits, life and independent living skills development programmes, and vocational preparation activities. These activities aimed to make positive use of participants’ time during the summer holiday and enhance their inclusion in the community.
The ceremony included a presentation highlighting the programmes and activities implemented during the summer programme. Participants, organising associations, supervisors, supporting entities and other contributors were also honoured in recognition of their contributions to achieving the programme’s objectives.
