Seoul : South Korea’s military said that North Korea fired multiple unidentified ballistic missiles toward the Yellow Sea.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that it detected the launch from North Hwanghae Province in North Korea but did not provide further details.
The JCS added that it has bolstered surveillance and maintained full readiness in close cooperation with the United States.
The launch coincides with the start of the annual large-scale joint military exercise Freedom Shield between South Korea and the US. The two countries highlight that the exercise aims to enhance their joint defensive capabilities against North Korea’s military threats.
