Abu Dhabi : The Ministry of Youth Affairs achieved a significant milestone with its Lamea national programme being recognised as the Best Arab Government Project to Empower Young People at the Arab Government Excellence Awards.
Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, received the award during the ceremony, organised by the Arab Administrative Development Organisation in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates at the League of Arab States headquarters.
Minister Tawfiqi attributed the achievement to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who prioritises youth empowerment across all domains, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who has placed youth empowerment at the forefront of government priorities.
She highlighted the programme’s alignment with the strategy endorsed by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS).
The strategy focuses on enhancing the global competitiveness of Bahraini youth by developing their skills through specialised programmes designed to identify, refine, and showcase their talents, positioning them as active contributors to the Kingdom’s development.
The minister emphasised that Lamea has successfully elevated Bahraini youth competitiveness by implementing advanced methodologies to identify and nurture exceptional talent. The programme’s success at the Arab level reflects its significant contributions to youth empowerment and its potential to serve as a model for other nations aiming to empower their youth.
She described Lamea as a future focused initiative that reflects the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser to create a generation of distinguished leaders capable of advancing Bahrain’s comprehensive development process and representing the Kingdom globally.
Participants in the programme undergo rigorous evaluations, challenges, training workshops, and international camps that develop their skills and prepare them to propose impactful projects that contribute to Bahrain’s development across various sectors.
The minister highlighted Lamea as a Bahraini success story, recognised regionally for its achievements in empowering youth and setting a benchmark for excellence in fostering the next generation of leaders.
