Manama : Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) kicked off the HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa International Showjumping Championship at the Military Sports Association’s field in Al Raffa.
The veterinary inspection of the participating horses was successfully conducted yesterday under the supervision of the organising committee, led by Championship Director Abdulaziz Mayoof Al Rumaihi. The process proceeded seamlessly, facilitated by the excellent coordination and cooperation of the participating riders and trainers.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Head of the Showjumping Committee at BREEF, emphasised that the organising committee and all working committees had completed all necessary preparations for the official launch, to ensure the success of the HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa International Showjumping Championship.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed expressed confidence in the championship’s success, noting the organising committee’s efforts to ensure top standards. He highlighted its importance in Bahrain’s showjumping history, calling it one of the country’s most prestigious events.
The first competition, held today, Thursday, February 13, featured three events:
First competition (Small Class): Two-phase competition with fences at a height of 115 cm.
Second competition (Medium Class): Two-phase competition with fences at a height of 120 cm.
Third competition (Grand Class): A single round with a jump-off for riders tied for first place, featuring fences at a height of 130 cm.
On Friday, February 14, two local competitions will be held:
First competition (Children’s Class): Fences at a height of 100 cm, starting at 8:00 am.
Second competition (Open Class): Two-phase competition with fences at a height of 110 cm, starting at 9:00 am.
On Saturday, February 15, three competitions will take place:
First competition (Small Class): Two-phase competition with fences at a height of 120 cm.
Second competition (Medium Class): Two-phase competition with fences at a height of 130 cm.
Final competition (Grand Class): Two different rounds for the His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, featuring fences at a height of 145 cm and awarding Longines world ranking points.
The organising committee invited the public to attend the events and activities of the Championship. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw, including a car and several other rewards.
