Manama : Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the National Security Adviser and Commander of the Royal Guard, attended the final rounds and closing ceremony of the first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Military Shooting Championship, hosted by the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) and organised by its Military Sports Union.
HH Shaikh Nasser was accompanied by His Highness Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Royal Guard Special Force Commander.
Upon their arrival, Their Highnesses were welcomed by Major General Ghanim Ibrahim Al Fadhala, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations of the BDF and Chairman of the Organising Committee; Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalahma, Director of the Military Sports Union; and the heads of the delegations from participating GCC states.
HH Shaikh Nasser commended the unwavering support provided to military sports by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister.
HH Shaikh Nasser also commended the contributions of Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, BDF Commander-in-Chief, whose leadership has significantly enhanced the standards of military sports, resulting in numerous regional and international accomplishments.
HH Shaikh Nasser highlighted the BDF’s dedication to fostering an environment that encourages its personnel to engage in various competitions, showcasing their talents and abilities.
HH Shaikh Nasser emphasised the importance of the championship in enhancing shooting skills, fostering solidarity, and raising the competitive standards among participants, which contributes positively to all involved.
HH Shaikh Nasser presented the awards to the winners, including the overall championship trophy, which was awarded to the Bahrain team. HH also distributed prizes for the winners of the 200-metre Plate Shooting with Rifles competition, where the Bahrain team secured first place, the United Arab Emirates team took second, and the Oman team placed third.
In the 20-metre Plate Shooting with Pistols competition, the Oman team secured first place, followed by the Bahrain team in second place, and the United Arab Emirates team in third.
In the 40-metre Plate Shooting with Submachine Guns competition, the United Arab Emirates team claimed first place, Bahrain took second place, and Saudi Arabia came third.
In the Warrior Competition for Officers, First Lieutenant Asaad Khalaf Al Kalbani from Oman won first place, Major Ali Salem Al Ghafri from the United Arab Emirates secured second place, and Major Mohammed Ahmed Al Qahtan from Bahrain ranked third.
In the Warrior Competition for Individuals, Sergeant Ahmed Zareef Hamoud from Bahrain achieved first place, Sergeant Bashar Ahmed Awad from Bahrain secured second, and First Sergeant Saeed Sagheer Al Zahrani from Saudi Arabia took third.
