Washingto : The death toll from a Buffalo-area blizzard rose to 27 in western New York, authorities said Monday as the region reeled from one of the worst weather-related disasters in its history. Much of the rest of the United States was hit by ferocious winter conditions. The dead around Buffalo were found in their cars, homes and in snowbanks. Some died while shoveling snow. Belgrade : At least 51 people were poisoned when a train derailed in southeastern Serbia, releasing ammonia into the air. Serbia’s Interior Ministry said the ammonia was released from a wagon of the derailed freight train in the city of Pirot. Police warned residents to stay in their homes, according to Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama). Bahrain Karate Federation organized the tournament at Bahrain Table Tennis Association Hall, under the patronage of Bahrain Martial Arts Council. KABUL: Three major international aid groups on Sunday suspended their operations in Afghanistan following a decision by the country’s Taliban rulers to ban women from working at non-governmental organizations. Save the Children, the Norwegian Refugee Council and CARE said they cannot effectively reach children, women and men in desperate need in Afghanistan without the women in their workforces.
