Manama: A conference-debate to celebrate the environment and raise awareness on current environmental issues will be organized by the French embassy in Bahrain on September 18. Budapest: Pope Francis arrived in Hungary early on Sunday, starting an unusually short stay that will underline differences with nationalist and anti-immigrant Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Bahrain : The Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security lauded the praised the issuance of Decree-Law 24/2021 by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa amending article 13 of law 18/2017 on alternative penalties and measures. Vienna : Arab Parliament Speaker Adel bin Abdulrahman Al Assoomi and Dr. Ghada Wali, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Organized Crime (UNODC) have signed a cooperation agreement, the first of its kind between the two institutions. The accord was signed on the sidelines of the first Global Parliamentary Summit on Countering Terrorism held in the Austrian capital Vienna. Bahrain : Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades will arrive tomorrow, Sunday 12, on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced the Royal Court. During the visit, the Cypriot president will hold talks with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on bilateral relations binding the two friendly countries, in addition to regional and international developments. Abimael Guzman, the founder of the Peruvian rebel group Shining Path, known as ‘Sendero Luminoso’ in Spanish, died in prison on Saturday, according to the country’s National Penitentiary Institute. He was 86.
