Kuwait : Polling stations in Kuwait closed for the National Assembly’s 18th legislative term at 12:00 a.m. local time. Voting began at 12:00 p.m. and continued for 12 hours, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said, noting that some 834,733 eligible voters cast their ballots to elect 50 MPs out of 200 candidates to represent them at the new legislature for a term of four years. Seoul : North Korea said Wednesday it has successfully test-fired a new intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) tipped with a hypersonic warhead, saying that all missiles the country has developed are now solid-fuel and nuclear capable with warhead control capability. The South Korean military said Tuesday it detected the firing of an IRBM from the Pyongyang region and the missile flew about 600 kilometers before falling into the East Sea. Taipei : Taiwan’s biggest earthquake in at least 25 years killed seven people on Wednesday, injuring more than 700, with 77 trapped in tunnels and collapsed buildings, authorities said, as rescuers used ladders to help some people descend to safety.
