Manama : The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 1,137 inspection campaigns and visits, during February 2 – 8, which resulted in the detention of 30 violating and irregular workers, while 124 violators were deported. The inspection campaigns and visits also resulted in monitoring several violations related to the provisions of several regulating laws, especially the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that legal measures were taken regarding the observed violations. Beirut : General Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon, signed the decree accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s government, and the decree assigning PM Nawaf Salam to form the government. The President then signed with the Prime Minister-designate the decree forming a government of 24 ministers.
Abu Dhabi : UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. Yeosu : A fishing trawler sank in waters off South Korea’s southern coast early Sunday, leaving three people dead and seven missing. The 139-ton vessel with 14 crew members on board was reported missing at 1:41 AM in waters about 17 kilometers east of the island of Habaek, near Yeosu, located 316 kilometers south of Seoul. Coast Guard vessels and other fishing boats rescued seven crew members — three South Koreans and four foreigners. But all three South Koreans died, including the vessel’s 66-year-old captain. Seoul : Heavy snow and strong winds disrupted flights at Jeju International Airport, the main gateway to Jeju Island, on Friday, leading to significant flight cancellations, according to South Korean authorities. As of 3 p.m. local time, 102 domestic departures, 121 domestic arrivals, and 16 international flights scheduled for takeoff or landing at Jeju International Airport had been canceled. Manama : The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture issued approximately 6,550 building permits in 2024, reflecting Bahrain’s rapid urban growth. According to Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, the “Benayat” (buildings) system has significantly streamlined permit issuance, enhancing efficiency and accelerating approval processes. Of the total permits issued, 1,780 were processed through Benayat with an average approval time of two working days. Residential building permits accounted for 70% of approvals, while investment apartment buildings made up 4.4%, and special use projects comprised 22.3%.
