Manama : In line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali AlKhalifa Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Vice President, held a meeting with the chairmpersons of Al Najma, Bahrain, Sitra and Al Nuwaidrat clubs.
The meeting was attended by GSA CEO Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar and Captain Waleed Al Alawi, Chairman of the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) .
The meeting discussed ways to overcome the obstacles that face basketball teams and prevent them from continuing to compete in the next season. It looked into the possibility of developing the necessary solutions to sustain the teams, in implementation of the directives of HH Shaikh Khalid to support all national clubs.
HH Shaikh Isa affirmed that the suspending practice of sports in clubs would negatively impact the national team and the deliverables of Bahraini basketball in general.
The GSA and the Olympic Committee will spare no effort to support Bahraini basketball and its teams, which constitute the base from which players start to represent national teams (Team Bahrain) in various international tournaments, HH added.
The chairpersons of the four clubs, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Predsident of AlNajma Club; Ali Habib, President of Sitra Club; Dr Abdulrahman Al Khashram,President of Bahrain Club and Mohamed Marhoon, President of Nuwaidrat Club, expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his support and to HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for his continued support.
