Manama : Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain serves as a leading model for peaceful coexistence, solidarity, and cross-cultural dialogue. He emphasised that these values form the bedrock of the humanitarian and diplomatic vision led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the active support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Marking the International Day for Dialogue among Civilisations, Dr. Al Zayani highlighted Bahrain’s enduring commitment to human values and diplomatic principles. The minister emphasised that Bahrain, through its active participation in regional and global bodies and its 2026 – 2027 non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council, is dedicated to advancing multilateral cooperation, international security, and human rights. This commitment is advanced through initiatives like the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, global conferences, and international awards focusing on sustainable development, youth and women’s empowerment, and the UN-adopted International Day of Peaceful Coexistence.
Dr. Al Zayani expressed pride in the international community’s trust in Bahraini diplomacy, noting the passage of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (sponsored by 136 nations) and a UN Human Rights Council resolution adopted unanimously with the support of 115 countries, which condemned hostile, destabilising Iranian actions against Bahrain and the wider region, calling on Iran to cease its subversive activities and proxy operations. They also underscored the necessity of ensuring unrestricted freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and vital regional waterways under international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to protect global energy, food security, and supply chains.
Turning to global conflicts, the minister urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfil its responsibilities in ending wars peacefully. He called for a just, lasting solution to the Palestinian cause, backing His Majesty the King’s initiatives to convene an international peace conference, provide healthcare and education to conflict-affected populations, and draft an international convention criminalizing religious and racial hate speech. He noted the importance of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s initiatives to reform the UN system and establish an international treaty for AI governance to advance regional and global prosperity.
Dr. Al Zayani affirmed that the International Day for Dialogue among Civilisations reinforces Bahrain’s balanced diplomatic stance under its wise leadership. He reaffirmed that Bahrain will continue its pioneering role in promoting global tolerance, justice, transparency, and respect for human rights.
