Manama : The Joint Higher Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait held its twelfth meeting, chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
Dr. Al Zayani noted the longstanding relations between the two countries and peoples, and their development under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait.
The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation to the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister for his commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two countries across various domains. He underscored the importance of strengthening relations based on shared values, kinship, religion and shared interests.
Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the importance of continued cooperation, coordination and consultation between the two ministries of foreign affairs on current regional and international issues, their implications for regional security and stability, and matters affecting the interests of countries in the region.

He also underlined the importance of coordination and joint cooperation within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council, particularly during the Kingdom of Bahrain’s current presidency of the Council, in a manner that supports its work and contributes to achieving its objectives. He further highlighted coordination in the context of Bahrain’s non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, including benefiting from the diplomatic experience of the State of Kuwait during its membership in 2018–2019.
On his part, Minister Al Yahya expressed pride in the longstanding relations between the two countries, in line with the directives of the leaderships of both countries. He expressed hope that the outcomes of the meeting would contribute to strengthening cooperation.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister noted that the directives of the two leaderships provide a clear framework for reinforcing cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s presidency of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council, commending its role in supporting joint Gulf action, and emphasised Kuwait’s commitment to supporting the success of the current presidency.
Minister Al Yahya congratulated Bahrain on the commencement of its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and noted Bahrain’s role on regional and international issues. He emphasised that the partnership between the two countries reflects a strategic approach based on shared positions and coordination.
The two sides discussed progress achieved across various sectors and means to further develop cooperation, particularly in investment, financial, commercial and development domains.
They also discussed enhancing political coordination and consultation in international forums, including during Bahrain’s non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, and exchanging experiences from Kuwait’s previous membership.
The meeting addressed current regional and international developments and their impact on regional security and stability, as well as Arab efforts to promote stability and resolve conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
The two ministers signed the joint minutes, and it was agreed that the thirteenth meeting of the committee would be held in the State of Kuwait on a date to be determined through diplomatic channels.
Following the meeting, Minister Al Yahya visited the Al Madar Centre at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was briefed on the centre’s work in monitoring regional and international developments and preparing political reports and analyses.
The Bahraini side participating in the joint committee meeting included Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director General of the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies; Ambassador Talal Abdulsalam Al Ansari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular and Administrative Affairs; Salah Ali Al Maliki, Ambassador of Bahrain to Kuwait; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations; Ambassador Saeed Abdul Khaliq, Director of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector; Nawar Abdullah Al Mutawa, Acting Head of the GCC Affairs Sector; Ali Khalid Al Araifi, Chief of Al Madar Centre; and Alyazeya Abdulmalek, Director of Academic Affairs.
