Manama : Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, said Bahrain has continued to prioritise protecting the national workforce and maintaining labour market stability under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Minister Khalaf said this approach is based on a system capable of responding to changing circumstances and taking the necessary measures to support the continuity of economic activity and preserve the gains achieved in the labour market.
The Labour Minister said close cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities during the Iranian attacks helped expedite measures to support the national workforce, leading to the approval of a draft law to pay the wages of insured Bahraini private sector workers for April 2026 from the Unemployment Benefits Record.
He said the measure provided wage support for Bahraini workers, eased the burden on employers and helped businesses continue operating during that period.
Minister Khalaf commended the legislative authority for its cooperation and swift consideration of the draft law, reflecting continued coordination between government entities and the legislative authority in supporting labour market stability and the national workforce.
The Labour Minister said the experience demonstrated the importance of aligning legislation with executive policies in responding to labour market developments.
He said the ministry continues to develop relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks in line with labour market developments, protecting the rights of the national workforce and supporting a stable and sustainable business environment.
