Washington : Electricity bills in the United States are expected to rise this summer due to increased natural gas prices and higher than average temperatures, according to the latest data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Government figures indicate that with temperatures forecast to exceed seasonal norms across much of the country, and natural gas prices up 37% compared to the same period last year, the average household electricity bill for June, July, and August is projected to increase by 4% compared to last summer.
The data suggests the average monthly bill will reach USD 186 this year, up from USD 180 last year and USD 148 four years ago, according to the Wall Street Journal.
