London : The United Kingdom, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Italian Republic affirmed the utmost importance of ensuring freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, announcing joint trilateral coordination to address Iranian threats affecting the security and stability of the region.
The UK government stated that this position came during telephone calls held by Prime Minister Keir Starmer with the leaders of Germany and Italy, during which developments in the Middle East were discussed.
The statement explained that the leaders stressed the need to secure the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz as a vital passage for global trade, and agreed to strengthen joint work and close cooperation in the coming days to address continuing Iranian threats.
The British Prime Minister also reviewed during the calls the defensive measures recently taken by the UK in the region, affirming his country’s continued commitment to supporting partners in the Arabian Gulf in a way that ensures the protection of regional and international security.
