Manama : The first consultative workshop highlighting Bahrain’s Second National Voluntary Review for Sustainable Development Goals opened today.
Sustainable Development Minister Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif opened the workshop, in the presence of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and UN Resident Coordinator in Bahrain Khaled El Mekwad.
The second national review will be presented during the high-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which will be held in New York City in July under the theme “Accelerating Recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic and Full Implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals”.
The workshop which targets the public sector is engaging participants from thirty government agencies. Other workshops will be held in the coming weeks with representatives from civil society, the legislative branch, academics, the private sector.
Other bodies supporting the women’s issues will also take part, in addition to youth authorities
The workshop provided a platform to highlight Bahrain’s commitment and continuous efforts to achieve sustainability, in light of the comprehensive development march led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The second voluntary national review on achieving the sustainable development goals is an opportunity to highlight the progress made in implementing the 2030 Agenda since the Kingdom prepared its first voluntary national review in 2018.
