Manama : Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa affirmed that the advanced position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a preferred tourist destination has been consolidated thanks to the facilities and incentives provided by its investment environment to establish prestigious hotel projects that meet international standards, in line with the objectives of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
His Excellency pointed out that this status reflects the success of the efforts made to enhance tourism attractiveness through developing the infrastructure, seafronts and services that meet the needs of tourists and visitors to the Kingdom from various countries of the world, based on the fact that the tourism sector is a fundamental pillar of growth and one of the most important promising economic sectors with a positive impact on the gross domestic product.
This came during His Excellency’s inauguration this morning (Tuesday – July 09, 2024), in the presence of a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, officials and invitees, of the Onyx Rotana Hotel, located in the Bahrain Bay area, as part of a series of hotels that will be opened during the current year. Upon His Excellency’s arrival at the hotel site, he was received by Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Al Kooheji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kooheji Real Estate Development Company, and Eng. Mohammed Al Kooheji, Chief Operating Officer of the company.
On this occasion, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister said that the opening of the Onyx Rotana Hotel represents a shift for the hotel and real estate development sectors, and a valuable addition to the family tourism facilities in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He praised in this regard the efforts made by the developer to establish the project, which confirms the importance of partnership with the private sector in the efforts to sustain development and progress in all sectors in order to achieve the goals of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
During the opening, His Excellency was briefed on the hotel and its components, and what it represents in terms of significant progress in the development plans of the Bahrain Bay area, congratulating the company developing the project on the occasion of establishing this hotel edifice, wishing them success and prosperity.
In turn, Her Excellency Mrs. Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, stressed that the private sector’s contribution to developing the tourism sector is of utmost importance to achieving the goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s tourism strategy (2022-2026).
Minister Al-Sayrafi said: “We at the Ministry of Tourism welcome the private sector’s contributions to developing the infrastructure and operating tourism facilities, and providing attractive tourism services and products, which contributes to promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain as an ideal and integrated destination in global markets.”
In this regard, Her Excellency noted the efforts of Al-Kooheji Real Estate Development Company in promoting the real estate development, tourism and hospitality sector, and the tourist attractions of the Onyx Rotana Hotel project, as it represents a qualitative addition that falls within the framework of developing family tourism and developing the seafronts in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
For his part, Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Al Kooheji, Chairman of Al Kooheji Real Estate Development Company, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister for his kind opening of the Onyx Rotana Hotel, appreciating His Excellency’s support for the private sector and tourism and real estate projects that contribute effectively to the national economy, stressing the continuation of work to adopt an investment portfolio that has a positive impact on the growth and prosperity of the real estate and tourism scene in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
