Jeddah : The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted a security coordination meeting in Jeddah on March 27, following directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The meeting was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia; Major General Murhaf Abu Qasra, Minister of Defense of the Syrian Arab Republic; and Major General Michel Menassa, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Lebanon, along with their accompanying security delegations.
Discussions focused on matters of common interest aimed at enhancing security and stability between Syria and Lebanon. The meeting concluded with the signing of an agreement highlighting the strategic importance of border demarcation, the formation of joint Syrian-Lebanese legal and specialised committees across various sectors, and the activation of coordination mechanisms to address military and security threats, particularly along the shared border.
The parties agreed to convene a follow-up meeting in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at a later date.
The Syrian and Lebanese ministers of defense expressed their appreciation to the Kingdom’s leadership and to the Saudi Minister of Defense for hosting the meeting, and conveyed their satisfaction with the outcomes.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its full support for all efforts that promote security and stability in Syria and Lebanon and contribute to regional peace and stability.
