Manama : The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has launched the “Madar” system for medical device registration and the “Tatabu” system for tracking medical devices and supplies.
The Authority stated that the launch of the two systems forms part of its ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation and enhance the regulatory framework for medical devices and supplies in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The initiative is intended to support the efficiency of healthcare services while promoting the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
The NHRA noted that the “Madar” system is designed to automate and streamline the registration process for medical devices. It will improve the efficiency of services provided to manufacturers, agents and suppliers, helping to speed up transaction processing while enhancing transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements in line with recognised international standards and best practices.
The Authority added that the “Tatabu” system aims to further improve patient safety and strengthen oversight of medical devices and supplies by tracking them throughout the supply chain. The system uses internationally recognised standards for traceability and product identification, helping to ensure the quality, safety and effective monitoring of medical products.
The NHRA highlighted that the system is the first fully integrated national platform for tracking medical devices and supplies across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, reflecting Bahrain’s leadership in adopting innovative digital solutions and developing modern healthcare regulatory systems.
The Authority emphasised that the two projects represent a strategic step towards building an integrated digital ecosystem that supports decision-making, improves the efficiency of regulatory operations and enhances oversight services. The projects also reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a leading regional hub for advanced healthcare and regulatory systems.
The event also included recognition of the partners and organisations that contributed to the development and implementation of the two projects, in appreciation of their efforts and role in the success of this national initiative. The NHRA stated that the initiative highlights the importance of collaboration and partnership among stakeholders in supporting innovation and development within Bahrain’s healthcare sector.
