Manama : The Ministry of Interior announced that, as part of the efforts of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science to protect society from the scourge of drugs, the Directorate, in separate incidents and in cooperation with Customs Affairs and an air cargo company, arrested 19 individuals of various nationalities in possession of approximately 16 kilograms of narcotic substances with an estimated value exceeding BD 113,000.
The Directorate explained that upon receiving information about the cases, search and investigation operations were conducted, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects in possession of the narcotics.
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science said that the seized materials were confiscated, legal procedures were taken, and the cases were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Criminal Information Directorate highlighted the importance of continuing community partnership with institutions and all groups by holding lectures and exhibitions to raise awareness on combating narcotics. It also urged the public to cooperate with the security authorities by reporting any information related to drug smuggling or promotion through the hotline (996) or via email at 996@interior.gov.bh, assuring complete confidentiality.
