Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, deputised Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, to inaugurate the Muharraq Ring Road, one of Bahrain’s largest strategic road projects. The opening ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Works.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure to keep pace with rapid demographic, economic, and urban growth while ensuring safe and sustainable land transport. He emphasised the importance of these projects in advancing Bahrain’s comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He noted that the expansion of strategic road projects reflects the government’s commitment to its 2023–2026 plan to enhance infrastructure quality. These projects aim to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and support economic and commercial activities.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the Muharraq Ring Road project aligns with the ongoing development in Muharraq, particularly its northeast, covering investment, tourism, commercial, and residential sectors. The project is also part of the government’s broader plan to improve connectivity between Muharraq and the capital through the upcoming fourth bridge.
He received a briefing on the proposed fourth bridge project, which will improve traffic flow in northern Muharraq and create new access routes, including a sea bridge connecting Al Sayah to Bahrain Bay. He also reviewed tree planting efforts along the road and directed the acceleration of these works to meet climate goals, including reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah commended the efforts of the national workforce that delivered this vital project eight months ahead of schedule, showcasing exemplary coordination across government entities.
