Tokyo : His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court and Chairman of the High Committee of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), attended the “Commemorative Race for the Visit of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain” at Nakayama Racecourse in Japan.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s growing presence in the international horse racing sphere reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. His Highness added that REHC initiatives have strengthened Bahrain’s standing in global sport while fostering participation and partnerships vital for the sustainability, progress, and competitiveness of the sector.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman noted that the commemorative race represents a pivotal moment in the collaborative efforts between Bahrain and Japan, highlighting shared interests in equestrian sports and horse racing.

He further underlined the significance of the event aligning with the official visit of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to Japan, which has produced ambitious strategic outcomes that bolster bilateral partnership and enhance joint cooperation across various domains.
HH Shaikh highlighted that Japan’s hosting of the race at one of its most prestigious racecourses reflects Bahrain’s reputation within the equestrian and horse racing community, marking a notable step in consolidating the Kingdom’s global presence.

During the ceremony, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman crowned the winner of the main event of the commemorative race, a contest run over 1800 metres featuring an elite field of horses. HH presented the trophy to the representative of Yuji Hasegawa, owner of the winning horse Meursault, and recognised trainer Yasutoshi Ikee and jockey Christophe Lemaire for their contributions.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman extended congratulations to all the winners, wishing them continued success and further achievements in upcoming competitions.
