Washington : Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, participated in the ministerial meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the theme “A Fund for the Future,” held as part of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C.
Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director; Khalid Humaidan, Central Bank of Bahrain Governor; and other central bank governors and financial institution leaders from the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) region were present.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to expanding and diversifying its economic base in alignment with the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Salman underscored the importance of international cooperation to accelerate economic growth, promote green economies, and embrace technological advancements for sustainable development. He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to advancing international cooperation through various initiatives aimed at fostering prosperity.
Shaikh Salman acknowledged the crucial roles played by the IMF and World Bank, calling for enhanced collaboration and efforts to achieve sustainable economic growth.
The Minister further stressed the IMF’s role in addressing climate change challenges and supporting emerging and developing economies. He advocated for unified efforts to mitigate conflicts, supporting the pursuit of peace and prosperity for future generations.
